At a specially-called meeting, Shelby County Commissioners on Monday approved a settlement agreement that oversees the merger of Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools. On October 1,2011, the two school systems will offically merge. The Memphis City council is the only governing body left to approve the settlement.Suburban students, currently divided into seven districts, will now have two school districts. Memphis City Schools have seven districts, they will now be reduced to five districts.The attendance zones mirror the actual districts, Some students may have to switch schools ; if the maps are neighborhood-based the new districts and attendance zones could crisscross. I WONDER HOW THIS WILL ALL PLAY ITSELF OUT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?
